(FRI) Flood Extent Accuracy
Fundamentally, the ICEYE SAR ML derived water extent boundary accuracy in Flood Rapid Impact depends on:
-
Orbit determination (position) of the SAR satellite at the acquisition time
-
Resolution and accuracy of the SAR image and imaging mode
-
Obstructions like trees or tall buildings to ground level view, SAR layover distortion
-
ML model segmentation accuracy of the water boundary
-
Orthorectification process accuracy and accuracy of the underlying
-
Digital Elevation Model (DEM)
FRI leverages all the major imaging modes in ICEYE SAR constellation, from widest coverage to the very finest resolution, to deliver balanced, high-resolution flood extent views to directly observable flood and water surface. For resolution and accuracy characteristics of different imaging modes, please refer to the latest ICEYE SAR imaging modes product specification (v6.0.3 as of July 2025). Obstructions may affect the overall accuracy and recall of the water extent.
