(WF) Activation thresholds - United States
For the US, the threshold takes into account the number of buildings within the wildfire perimeter as reported by WFIGS and within the surrounding buffer zone. At minimum, a fire must cover more than 3 acres, have more than 5 buildings within the perimeter, and more than 80 buildings within a 2 km buffer to enter activation. Containment below 50% is required for the monitoring tier, but analysis proceeds for events meeting the activation thresholds regardless of containment level. ICEYE analysis will cease when any of the following conditions are met:
-
The above thresholds are no longer fulfilled, OR
-
Fire status is reported as “controlled”, OR
-
No changes to reported fire information or hotspot activity for ≥ 3 days, and all buildings within the official fire perimeter have been assessed
-
Where containment percentage is unknown, analysis concludes after 3 days provided all buildings within the official fire perimeter have been assessed.
