The product delivers:

  • Rapid identification of observed flood extent
  • Continuous updates as new SAR evidence becomes available
  • Event-wide views of flood growth and evolution
  • Accumulated maximum observed flood footprint

FRI is designed to prioritize speed, automation, and geographic coverage, making it ideal for rapid situational awareness during unfolding events.

ICEYE’s Flood Rapid Impact (FRI) provides quick and continually updated flood extent data during flood events. It automatically analyses water extent from available ICEYE SAR imagery to generate accurate flood extent GIS file deliverables. These deliverables show how the flood evolves over time, especially during the rising and peak time. The FRI product prioritizes fast delivery and comprehensive flood extent detection, and is suitable for understanding the overall scale of an event and figuring out worst hit areas.

The FRI product is automatically created as soon as the first indications of a flood are observed in available evidence data. At that point, the system automatically processes and delivers updated flood extent information. The deliverables are called FRI Updates, and include
the Flood Extent Snapshots and Accumulated Extent. Subsequent FRI Updates are provided regularly every 6–12 hours for the duration of a flood event.

The FRI output data is delivered through the ICEYE Solutions Suite Event Intelligence Hub and ICEYE Solutions API Suite File Delivery API.
